Resolved: That the following observations be made on the applications listed below:

The Working Party were supportive about reinstating the proportions of the windows and repairing the rear elevation. They wanted to ensure the string course was also repaired and that the brickwork matched with appropriate mortar. Members raised the note about a handrail from the doorway. They did not object to the internal changes but wanted the bifold doors to be less modern in appearance. Concern was raised over ventilation in these 3 rooms.

The group felt that two totems along Ironmarket was excessive but the general consensus was that they were a valuable installation. They objected to the location outside Wilkinsons being directly in the centre of the space. In addition any installation and connections should replace the hard landscaping with appropriate surfacing and any sets and brick paving replaced rather than tarmac being used.

The group accepted the proposal but felt that hard and/or soft landscaping should be used to further conceal the site and help to mitigate any harmful effects to the historic parkland. They also want the posters to be removed.
Former Madeley Manor Care Home, Madeley 21/00021/FUL & 21/00022/LBC
The group accepted that this important listed building, built by a notable international architect (Harrison) was in need of refurbishment and a sustainable future. This is important for the house as well as for the landscape parkland surrounding it. In terms of the enabling development the group felt that there was not enough evidence to justify this amount of development and more information was required. They felt that there was a lack of care with the design of the flats and amount of car parking which was unsympathetic to the building and to its setting. The flats closest to the Manor were trying to compete with it and were too large and more akin to an urban rather than this rural setting.

The group felt that the store was particularly large and exacerbated the number of utilitarian structures which have already been introduced into the former playground. It was felt that the store should make better use of the brickwork wall, that it should be smaller and more recessive.
