To resolve that the public be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the attached report, because it is likely that there will be disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 1, 2 and 7 in Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972.

Resolved:-                That the public be excluded from the meeting during

consideration if the following matter because it is likely that there will be disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 1,2 and 7 contained within Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act, 1972

Driver – SI

The Sub Committee considered an application for a renewal of a Dual Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver licence and a Hackney Carriage Vehicle Licence.

It had come to the Council’s attention during the application process that the applicant had previous convictions which would be taken into account in accordance with the Council’s Taxi Licensing Policy 2019-2021, that fell within the Council’s guidelines for relevance of convictions. 

The applicant was accompanied by a representative who spoke on his behalf prior to the applicant himself answering questions from Members and officers.

After very careful consideration of information from the Council’s Licensing Officers and representations from the applicant and his representative, the Sub Committee reached their decision that the applicant was not a fit and proper person to hold a licence with this Authority.

Resolved:     That the renewal applications for a Dual Hackney Carriage and

Private Hire Driver’s Licence and a Hackney Carriage Vehicle licence be refused.

To consider any business which is urgent within the meaning of Section 100(B)4 of the Local Government Act.
