HRH PRINCE PHILIP, DUKE OF EDINBURGH

Minutes:

The Chair, Councillor Stephen Sweeney, referred to the sad news of the death on 9th April 2021 of HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

 

Councillor Sweeney paid tribute to Prince Philip’s sense of public duty and his devotion to his family.  All present observed one minute’s silence as a mark of respect.

The-Sub Committee considered a renewal application for a Dual Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver’s licence.  The application was before the Sub-Committee as the application process revealed a conviction that fell within the requirements of the Council’s Licensing Policy. 

 

After very careful consideration of information from the Council’s Licensing Officer and representations from the applicant, the Sub-Committee agreed as follows:

 

Resolved: that

(a)  The renewal application for the Dual Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver’s licence be granted; and

(b)  The Driver be issued with a warning as to future conduct due to inaccuracies in the application process.

Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act - 1976 - APPLICANT 2

The Sub-Committee considered an issue relating to a current Dual Licensed Driver.  The matter was before the Sub-Committee as the driver had notified the Council of a conviction recently received.     

 

After very careful consideration of information from the Council’s Licensing Officer and representations from the driver and their representative, the Sub-Committee agreed as follows:

 

Resolved:

 

That the driver be issued with a warning as to future conduct.

Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act - 1976 - APPLICANT 3

The Sub-Committee considered a new application for a Hackney Carriage Vehicle Licence.  The matter was before the Sub-Committee as the application fell outside of the Council’s Licensing Policy. 

 

The matter had been deferred from a previous meeting due to the non-attendance of the applicant but the applicant was also not in attendance at this meeting.  In view of the situation that the applicant had been given two opportunities to appear, the Sub-Committee agreed to hear the matter in their absence.

 

After very careful consideration of information from the Council’s Licensing Officer, the Sub-Committee agreed as follows:

 

Resolved: that the application for a Hackney Carriage Vehicle Licence be refused on the grounds that the vehicle does not comply with the Council’s Taxi Licensing Policy and the Sub-Committee has not heard anything to allow it to depart from policy on this occasion.
