Driver –KS

The Head of Environmental Services submitted a report concerning driver KS, a current Duel Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensed driver. Driver KS had failed to notify the Authority within the time period specified of a relevant conviction under the Council policy. Driver KS attended Committee and was represented by Mr M.M. Alam.

 

Driver KS was clearly remorseful and explained that the failure to notify the Council was due to an oversight during a period of family stress. The Committee also took into account the good driving record of the applicant.

 

Resolved:     That driver KS be sent a strongly worded letter as to future conduct.

Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act - 1976

Driver – AH

The Head of Environmental Health Services submitted a report concerning an application from driver AH for the renewal of a Dual Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Drivers Licence.  The applicant had received a conviction relevant under the Council Policy which was not notified to the Authority within the time period specified.

 

Driver AH attended the Committee; sincerely apologised for the oversight and referred the Committee to the good driving record held over a number of years. The Committee were concerned that the applicant had an established role within the family private hire business and as such was a role model for the other drivers.

 

Resolved:     That driver AH be sent a warning letter setting out the requirement to comply with all the conditions attached to the licence.

Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act - 1976

Driver – CRJ

The Head of Environmental Health Services submitted a report concerning driver CRJ who had submitted an application for the renewal of a Dual Drivers Licence.  Driver CRJ did not attend on the evening of the meeting, although had been present earlier in the day as requested and asked for the application to be dealt with in absence. Committee had concerns concerning the application and wished to speak with the applicant prior to making a decision.

 

Resolved:     That the application be deferred until the next available Committee.

Driver – MG

The Head of Environmental Health Services submitted a report concerning driver MG, a current Dual licence driver.  Driver MS had notified the Authority of a relevant conviction within the time period specified in the Council Policy. Driver MG attended Committee and was represented by Mr M.M Alam who spoke on behalf of the applicant.  The Committee thanked driver MG for complying with the procedure.

 

Resolved:     That no action be taken.

Driver – YAA

The Head of Environmental Health Services submitted a report concerning driver YAA a current Dual Driver.  Driver YAA had failed to notify the Authority of a relevant conviction within the time period specified in the Council Policy.  The report also contained information received from another authority highlighting other offences. Driver YAA attended committee and explained the circumstances surrounding the offences. 

 

Resolved:     That the licence be allowed to continue with a warning letter as to future conduct and reminding the applicant of the need to comply with Council Policy and notify the authority of any relevant offences.
