DISCLOSURE OF EXEMPT INFORMATION

To resolve that the public be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the attached report, because it is likely that there will be disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 1, 2 and 7 in Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972.

consideration of the following matter because it is likely that there will be disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 1,2 and 7 contained within Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act, 1972

Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act - 1976

Driver – Mr AL

The Committee considered a report regarding an application for renewal of a Dual Driver’s Licence by Mr AL.

 

Mr AL was accompanied by Mr TC but spoke for himself.

 

Mr AL stated that the offences took place on private journeys.  He told members that he was not aware that he had to report speeding offences to the Council.

 

 Resolved:    That the application submitted by Mr AL be approved for a

period of 12 months, together with a written warning as to future conduct.  Subject to there being no further incidents within that period, Mr AL could then apply for a full licence but would not be required to come before the Committee.

Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act - 1976

Driver – Mr DS

The Committee considered a report regarding an application for renewal of a Dual Driver’s Licence by Mr DS.

 

Mr DS was given the opportunity to address the Committee.

 

Mr DS stated that he disclosed the offences when he completed the application form but did not notify the Council within the required seven days.  He admitted that he was at fault. .

 

 Resolved:    That the application submitted by Mr DS be approved, but with a

two week suspension prior to the licence being issued.  Mr DS was also to be issued with a written warning as to future conduct and was advised to read the conditions relating to taxi licencing.

Driver – Mr DW

The Committee considered a report regarding an application for renewal of a Dual Driver’s Licence by Mr DW.

 

Mr DW was accompanied by Mr TC but spoke for himself.

 

Mr DW passed a letter to Members and stated that he want aware that he had to report convictions to the Council.

 

 Resolved:    That the application submitted by Mr DW be approved but with

an immediate suspension of one month.  Mr DW would also be issued with a written warning as to future conduct and was asked to read the council’s terms and conditions in relation to the taxi licensing policy.

The Committee considered a report regarding an application for renewal of a Dual Driver’s Licence by Mr MS.

 

Mr MS was given the opportunity to address the Committee.

 

Mr MS stated that he was not aware that he had to write to the Council to inform of convictions but that he had telephoned the Council.  All of the offences had taken place in a private vehicle, not a licenced one.

 

 Resolved:    That the application submitted by Mr MS be approved but with

an immediate suspension of two weeks.  Mr MS would also be issued with a written warning as to future conduct.

Driver – Mr CD

The Committee considered a report regarding an application from Mr CD  in respect of a new Dual Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Drivers licence.

 

Mr CD was accompanied by a legal representative.

 

Prior to the application being heard, Members and the applicant were advised that some new information had been brought to the Committee’s attention and, as a result, it would be advisable to defer to a future meeting to enable the new information to be considered.

 

Resolved :    That the application be deferred.

To consider any business which is urgent within the meaning of Section 100(B)4 of the Local Government Act.
