To receive declarations of interest from Members on items contained within the agenda.

There were no declarations of interest made.

The Committee considered a report on setting up an Appointments Sub-Committee for the purpose of interviewing candidates for the role of Head of Planning.

The report also proposed that delegated powers be granted to the Chief Executive to appoint members to future Employment Sub-Committee/Panels in accordance with the wishes of the relevant Group Leaders and from within the membership of the Employment Committee.  This delegation would avoid the need for the Committee to meet in future, solely for the purposes of appointing subordinate committees/panels.

Resolved: that

(a)  Councillors Holland, Northcott and Stubbs be appointed to the Appointments Sub-Committee for the interview process for the Head of Planning;

(b)  Should any of the members listed in (a) above be unable to attend then a substitute member can be nominated from within the Employment Committee’s membership including substitute members; and

(c)  The Chief Executive be granted delegated powers to appoint members to future Employment Sub-Committee/Panels in accordance with the wishes of the relevant Group Leaders and from within the membership of the Employment Committee, including substitute members.
