Members stood in silent tribute to the memory of Councillor Billy Welsh, member for the Madeley Ward.  Members paid tribute to Councillor Welsh’s commitment to the responsibilities of public office and particularly his dedication to the community of Madeley.

Apologies were received from Councillors Astle, Miss J Cooper, Eagles and G Williams.

Councillor T Hambleton moved and Councillor S Hambleton seconded that Mr John Thomas Meir be appointed as an Honorary Alderman for the Borough of Newcastle under Lyme.

Councillor Reddish moved and Councillor Walklate seconded that Mr Christopher Malkin and Mr Terry Probert be appointed as Honorary Aldermen for the Borough of Newcastle under Lyme.

Councillor Sweeney moved and Councillor Matthews seconded that Mr Robert Ashley Howells JP be appointed as an Honorary Alderman for the Borough of Newcastle under Lyme.

Resolved:
