NEW APPLICATIONS RECEIVED PDF 14 KB To make observations on new applications received Additional documents: Minutes: Resolved: That the following observations be made on the applications:
53 Ironmarket, Newcastle 23/00635/FUL
There were no objections. The group fully supported the scheme. It was suggested that a better colour for the windows and doors would not be to match the existing grey but to have an off-white as shown in the applications documents.
Betley Court, Main Road, Betley 23/00668/FUL & 23/00660/LBC
There were no objections to the application.
39 Ironmarket, Newcastle 23/00479/FUL
Whilst the group supported both the reuse of a redundant ground floor as well as the investment, this shop front detail was not considered an appropriate move forwards. It ignored the context of the existing building and the conservation area, being in close proximity to high quality buildings and traditional shop fronts nearby. The new arrangement would remove the projecting window and create a stepped access. The design of the doorway was nondescript and the windows were styled for the bar theme. The group was unsure of the theme and some thought it had the appearance of a pop up temporary Christmas market. Whilst some alterations had been detrimental to this façade over the years, it still had a distinctive attractive appearance and this design would further destroy this. The waney edge looked rough and it was noted that the Congleton shop front had a straight edge. |
