Minutes:

1-3 High Street, Newcastle 21/00359/ADV

The Working Party feels that whilst this fascia is overly large there is no real damage to the main architectural features of the building.

64-68 High Street, HSBC, Newcastle   21/00380/FUL

The group objected to this application due to the lack of information provided to the siting and fixing of the camera and its actual appearance.  There was no information about any brackets which may be needed and there are already scars on the masonry from other fixings.  The group wondered if it might be sited more effectively on the glazing bars, closer to the cash machine.

18A High Street, Newcastle  21/00317/FUL

The group accept the flue as a necessary evil to enable the new use to operate but would like a condition to be added to ensure it was carefully removed if/when the use no longer required it.

With regard to the proposed new frontage – there is no attempt to tie it into the rest of the building frontage.  This building is characterful with a strong personality and the bland proposal not good enough.  Members felt the design approach does not have longevity or quality and greatly affects the traditional style on the adjacent brick building (also Grade II Listed).  They have concerns also on how this approach would work with the significant gradient on the pavement.

Sidmouth Avenue  21/00446/DEEM4

The Group had no objections.
