Minutes:

Resolved:-That the following observations be made on the applications listed below:-

111 High Street, Newcastle  17/00355/ADV

The Working Party expressed concern that too many signs were proposed for both the High Street and Barracks Road elevations. With respect to the High Street elevation the height above ground level of the illuminated hanging sign was of concern and the amount of signage at a lower level was of concern. With respect to the Barracks Road elevations the Working Party expressed concern about the proposed additional structure (which they considered would require planning permission) and that the additional higher level lettering would be contrary to the character and appearance of the Conservation Area. No particular concerns were raised about the lower level signs on this elevation.

Land opposite  Meynell Arms, Church Road, Ashley  17/00368/OUT

The Working Party acknowledged that the revised design was an improvement upon that which had been considered, but maintained their objection to the siting of the development between two car parks, rather than towards the junction which would be much more appropriate to the streetscene. The suggested choice of materials, including Marley modern tiles, was of concern. The Working Party suggested the palette of materials should be limited to good quality bricks, clay tiles and timber framed windows. The use of textured render was questioned

Halifax, 13 Ironmarket, Newcastle  17/00369/LBC

The Working Party  had no objections to the proposals

Site adjacent to St Michaels Presbytery, Liverpool Road, Cross Heath 17/00316/DEEM3

The Working Party considered the advertisement hoarding would be detrimental to the character of the area and the setting of the locally listed Church and its Presbytery
