Comments

12/00835/ADV

Keele Hall, Keele.

Keele University.

Three freestanding monolith signs at various locations adjacent to Keele Hall/Gardens.

The Working Party found the timber sign (location 1) acceptable but strongly objected to the aluminium plinth for signs 2 and 3, which should be an alternative material such as stone or timber.  The map sign at the top of the drive should only be a directional sign at location 2a.

13/00045/FUL

Boughey Arms, Nantwich Road, Audley.

J Booth, Daniel Thwaites plc.

Retention of raised deck area.

The Working Party objected to the structure and felt it was an inappropriate design and location that had a detrimental affect on the character and appearance of the Conservation Area.

12/00791/FUL

Church of Jesus Christ, Brampton Road, Newcastle.

Mr T Michael.

Car park extension.

The Working Party felt that the trees were a valuable asset to the Conservation Area and should be retained.  The application should get a comprehensive tree appraisal and consider a non-dig construction with a revised car park layout.

13/00038/ADV

Lloyds TSB, 46-48 High Street, Newcastle.

Lloyds Banking Group.

Various illuminated signage to front elevation.

The fascia sign was acceptable but the Working Party objected to the bright green signs for the poster and cash machine surrounds.  The Working Party requested that a note be added to the decision notice so that the number of the property can be included on the fascia sign to enable easier identification of the property.

13/00003/LBC & 13/00005/FUL

The Old Vicarage, Haddon Lane, Maer.

Removal of existing outbuilding and erection of replacement single storey outbuilding.  Refurbishment of garage and alterations to existing driveway turning area.

The Working Party had no objections to the proposal but requested that the colour of the timber boarding on the extension be painted a colour sympathetic to the landscape.

6.

Matters Arising

Minutes:

The Conservation Officer informed the group that following consideration of a supplementary report, the Planning Committee approved the grant for Mow House Farmhouse, Mow Cop on 5 February 2013.  The recommendation to defer the decision by the Working Party was not considered appropriate or proportionate given the nature of the works proposed, the NPPF guidance and the terms and conditions for the Historic Building Grant.
