Comments

12/00011/FUL

St Giles’ Church, Church Street, Newcastle.

St Giles Parochial Church Council.

Removal of spoil mound and trees, relocation of headstones, new parking areas and church precinct.

The Working Party supports and commends this scheme for the improvement of the churchyard and setting of St Giles’ Church.  However, it feels it is essential to ensure an appropriate memorial is provided for the people who may be buried in this location.  In addition, an archaeological watching brief is insufficient and there should be a full on site archaeological supervision during the ground works.

12/00142/FUL

Grass verge, Clayton Road, Newcastle.

Vodafone Ltd.

Installation of a 15m high telecommunications slim line street pole, shrouded antennas, associated cabinets and ancillary development.

The Working Party objects strongly to the proposal in terms of its visual amenity and impact on the Conservation Area.  The mast and boxes should be relocated to another site or on an adjacent building.

12/00150/LBC

36 High Street, Newcastle.

Butters John Bee.

Proposed bar and two 1 bed apartments.

No objections.

12/00155/ADV

41 High Street, Newcastle.

Royal Bank of Scotland Group.

Three illuminated fascia signs, two illuminated projecting signs and one replacement ATM header panel.

The Working Party objects to the horizontal wrap around fascia strips which are unnecessary and to the extremely illuminated trough lights which are contrary to planning policy.  This building is now a building on the Local register and the Working Party should be seeking to preserve its architectural features.

12/00157/FUL

The Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, London Road, Newcastle.

Rev Philip Griffin.

Installation of gate and railings mounted on a low level brick plinth.

No objections to the scheme but the posts should be properly embedded into the stone.

12/00161/FUL & 12/00162/FUL

Old Springs Hall, Old Springs, Market Drayton.

Mr & Mrs R Lee.

Demolish existing kennels and replace with a domestic office, alterations to landscpaong including new and reused garden walls and railings.  Form a covered glazed link to the house from the stable range.  retrospective extension to the lake.

The Working Part supports and commends this scheme to improve the setting of the Hall.  However, it has concerns about the nature of the proposal for this modest country house and wants to ensure that the design is historically appropriate.  The Council should get advice from appropriate bodies before accepting the designs for the walls, railings and groundworks.
