Comments

Land to rear of Grindley Cottage, Church Lane, Betley

The Working Party feels that their comments in relation to archaeology are still relevant.  The quality of the house design is still nowhere near what it should be on such a sensitive site.  The Working Party would also support the notion of an alternative location and footprint as suggested by Historic England.

Former St Giles & St Georges Primary School, Newcastle

The Working Party feels that this illumination is not justified and due to the fact that it will project outwards it will be harmful to the character and appearance of the historic streetscene and to the listed building.

No objections

The Working Party objects to the demolition of the former school, built in the 1890’s by North Staffs architect, Chapman.  The building is capable of reuse and modification.  It is historically significant and it reflects the character of the town centre and most importantly makes a positive contribution to the character of the Conservation Area and setting of the public gardens.
