To resolve that the public be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the attached report, because it is likely that there will be disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 1, 2 and 7 in Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972.

consideration if the following matter because it is likely that there will be disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 1,2 and 7 contained within Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act, 1972

Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act - 1976

Driver – Mr HS

The Committee considered a report regarding a new driver application for a Dual Driver’s Licence by Mr HS.

 

Mr HS was given the opportunity to address the Committee.

 

Mr HS agreed to have the adaptation, as discussed in the meeting, fitted to his vehicle.

 

Resolved:     That, subject to the conditions set out in the report, Mr HS’s  application for  a Dual Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Vehicle Driver’s Licence be approved.

Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act - 1976

Driver – Mr LM

The Committee considered a report regarding an application for renewal of a Dual Driver’s Licence by Mr LM.

 

Mr LM was accompanied by his Operator but addressed the Committee himself.

 

Mr LM stated that he was not aware that speeding convictions had to be reported to the Council.  The operator knew about the rule to report but had not known it to be implemented for an SP30.

 

 

Resolved:     That the application submitted by Mr LM be approved with a

strong written warning as to future conduct.  Mr LM was also asked to make himself aware of the Council’s rules and regulation in respect of taxi licensing.

Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act - 1976

Driver – Mr MEK

The Committee considered a report regarding an incident involving Mr MEK.

 

Mr MEK was accompanied by a friend but addressed the Committee himself.

 

Members were advised that he was not a licence holder when the speeding offence was committed.  The second offence, which was taken into consideration was, Mr MEK stated, reported to the Council on a Friday afternoon but he was asked to return with a check code, which he did the following Monday.

 

Resolved:     That Mr MEK be issued with a strong written warning as to his

future conduct and to make himself aware of the Council’s rules and regulations for reporting incidents.

Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act - 1976

Driver – Mr MV

The Committee considered a report regarding an incident involving Mr MV.

 

Mr MV was given the opportunity to address the Committee.

 

Mr MV stated that he had reported the incident late because the letter had been sent to the previous owner.  Mr MV had been in an area where roadworks had temporarily reduced the speed limit.

 

Resolved:     That Mr MV’s current Dual Licence be revoked and that a new

licence be issued for a period of twelve months.  After the twelve months and subject to there being no further incidents, Mr  MV can apply for a full licence.

Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act - 1976

Driver – Mr ST

The Committee considered a report regarding an application for renewal of a Dual Driver’s Licence by Mr ST.

 

Mr ST was given the opportunity to address the Committee.

 

Mr ST stated that at the time of the first offence he  hadn’t applied for his licence.  Regarding the second offence, Mr ST did comply with the request of the Council Officer.

 

Mr ST had moved so all correspondence relating to the incident had been sent to his previous address.

 

Resolved:     That the application submitted by Mr ST be approved for a

period of twelve months together with a written warning as to his future conduct.  Subject to there being no further incidents within the twelve months he can apply for a full licence. Mr ST was also asked to familiarise himself with the Council’s policy and guidelines in respect of taxi licensing, comply with the rules of the Council’s enforcement officers and to ensure that he carries his badge at all times when he is driving a taxi.

To consider any business which is urgent within the meaning of Section 100(B)4 of the Local Government Act.
