To resolve that the public be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the attached report, because it is likely that there will be disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 1, 2 and 7 in Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972.

Resolved:-                That the public be excluded from the meeting during

consideration if the following matter because it is likely that there will be disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 1,2 and 7 contained within Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act, 1972

Driver – Mr IM

The Committee considered a report regarding an application for renewal of a Dual Driver’s Licence by Mr IM.

Mr IM was accompanied by a representative who addressed the Committee.

Mr GC stated that the offence had not taken place in a licenced vehicle.  Mr IM stated that it had been an error on his behalf and apologised for the mistake.

Resolved:     That, Mr IM be granted a full licence together with a written warning as to his future conduct.

Driver – Mr AR

The Committee considered a report regarding offences committed by Mr AR.

Mr AR was accompanied by a friend who spoke on his behalf.

An explanation of the offence was given.  Mr AR stated that he was aware that he had to notify the Council of offences but was unaware that it should be reported within seven days.  In addition the date of the offence had also been mistaken.

Resolved:     That, Mr AR’s current licence be revoked with immediate effect and that a new licence be issued for a period of nine months, together with a strong written warning as to his future conduct.  Mr AR would then be invited back to this Committee to support his new application, at which time he would be expected to have familiarised himself with the Council’s Terms and Conditions and show a better understanding of the English language.

Driver – Mr JI

The Committee considered a report regarding an application for renewal of a Dual Driver’s Licence by Mr JI.

Mr JI was given the opportunity to address the Committee.

Mr JI gave an explanation of the offences which was accepted by the Committee.

Resolved:     That, Mr JI be granted a full licence together with a written warning as to his future conduct.

Driver – Mr SB

The Committee considered a report regarding an application for renewal of a Dual Driver’s Licence by Mr SB.

Mr SB was given the opportunity to address the Committee.

Mr SB had been issued a licence last year for a period of twelve months and had since committed a further two offences.

Mr SB was not carrying any passengers at the time of the offences.  In addition, he stated that he was unaware that he had to notify the Council.

Resolved:     That, as Mr SB had been issued with a twelve month licence on trust and that trust having been broken, the Committee felt it inappropriate to issue a licence on this occasion.

Driver – Mr SH

The Committee considered an application for a new Dual Drivers Licence by Mr SH.

Mr SH was given the opportunity to address the Committee.

Mr SH gave an explanation of the offence and stated that he had had no complaints from his previous employment.

Resolved:     That, Members saw no reason to depart from its policy and guidelines and refused the application.

To consider any business which is urgent within the meaning of Section 100(B)4 of the Local Government Act.
