Minutes:

Resolved:-That the following observations be made on the applications listed below:-

22 Park Avenue, Wolstanton  18/00235/FUL

The Working Party has no objections to the proposal but wants to ensure that the details match the main house and have a light touch, ie that the barge boards are not overly large.

Darwin Building Keele Science Park, Keele University  18/00237/FUL

The Working Party feels the proposed extension is totally inappropriate in terms of the colours and materials.  The extension should have a more creative approach using preferably brickwork which matches the rhythm of the existing design and has a more traditional approach given its location within the Historic Park and Garden.

Mount Pleasant, The Holborn, Madeley  18/00196/FUL

The Working Party objects to the scale of the building which is inappropriate and harmful to the character and appearance of the Conservation Area.  This part of Madeley Conservation Area is sensitive and any building should reflect the character of the existing house and surrounding buildings and should ideally work with the existing garage, both in materials and design.  The design is too monolithic and too modern in parts and hipped roof and oak overhangs are inappropriate.  The materials should be brick, tile and garage doors should be timber side hung as on the existing garage.  If a garage of this scale is required its design should be more imaginative and not a rectangular 4 bay structure.
