14/00971/FUL

27 Hardingswood Road, Kidsgrove

Objects to the demolition of the building to create a gap site because this building forms part of the townscape character of the Conservation Area. It retains the building line as the land rises up and curves away and makes an important contribution to the historic character and setting of the Area. No 28 (applicant) already has the largest garden plot in the vicinity, not characteristic of this Conservation Area.

15/00166/FUL

Jubilee Baths, Nelson Place, Newcastle

The Working Party welcomes a contemporary building of ideally a mixed use but objects to the scale and uninventive use of materials.  The height will alter the building height to road/width ratios which were planned and may create a microclimate and wind tunnel.  The Working Party feels that the design should be more sympathetic to this significant part of late Georgian expansion of the town and Conservation Area.  The taller elements should ideally step back away from the street level.

15/00175/FUL

Former telephone exchange, Blore Road, Hales

The Working Party feels that this application is enterprising but feels that the design could have reflected the architecture of the building more and the glass elements could have been less obtrusive.
