Resolved:-   That the minutes of the previous meeting held on 2 December 2014 be agreed as a correct record, subject to the attendance being amended which had recorded Mrs Berrisford and Mr Wakeling as Councillors.

Matters Arising

Minutes:

The Council’s Urban Design/Conservation Officer informed the group that on 18 December Councillor Mrs Burnett had given her views on application no 14/00895/ADV (55A Ironmarket, Newcastle) on behalf of the Working Party in her capacity as Chair.  This was due to the fact that the meeting before Christmas had been cancelled due to a lack of business. 

 

Resolved:-                        That the Working Party accept the Chair’s

comments.

The Working Party is of the view that the extension crudely cuts across the two phases of this former chapel including the windows which detracts from the special character of the building.  There may be scope for a better sited and designed extension or conservatory that respects the building.

The Working Party feels that the good management of this facility, given the high number of units, will be paramount to controlling any adverse effects on the character of the area due to the intensification.
