Resolved:              That the minutes of the meeting held on 15 December be agreed as a correct record.

Disclosure of Exempt Information

To resolve that the public be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the attached report, because it is likely that there will be disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 1, 2 and 7 in Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972.

Private Hire Driver – Mr AR

The Committee considered a report regarding an application by Mr AR for the grant of a Hackney Carriage licence.  The applicant had failed to disclose a recent conviction and it had come to light that the applicant already held a private hire driver’s licence.

 

Mr AR was given the opportunity to address the Committee.

 

Resolved:            (i) That the application for a Hackney Carriage Driver’s

Licence be refused.

 

(ii)      That , in respect of the Private Hire Driver’s Licence, Mr AR be given a formal written warning for the conviction and failure to report it to the Local Authority.

Resolved:              That, as the applicant was not in attendance, this item be

deferred to the next meeting.

Minutes:

Consideration was given to a report informing Members of the new licensing powers following the Amendments to the Immigration Bill.

 

Members welcomed the report and the tightening up of legislation.

 

Resolved:              That the amendments to the Immigration Bill, with regard to the new licensing powers and additional responsibilities, be noted.

To consider any business which is urgent within the meaning of Section 100(B)4 of the Local Government Act.
